ENJOY COFFEE WITH ITALIAN STYLE (PART 2)

Besides many types of coffee in Part 1, if you go to Italy, you should try different types of coffee such as:
Corretto (added a few drops of alcohol),

2. “Bar” means coffee shop

Number of “bars” on signboards in Italy could make you believe that this country is facing a serious problem with alcohol. In fact, the Italians understand that “bar” is a place serving authentic coffee and you can order yourself a cup of Latte or Cappuccino.

3. The Italians usually stand while drinking coffee

Entering into the Italian coffee shop, unless you are too tired and need to rest, stand at the bar and enjoy coffee as native people. This not only helps you to get acquainted with their culture but also help you save half amount of payment comparing to take the seat and wait for the waiter.

4. Pay before ordering coffee

Not everywhere requires that, but as a courteous rule, it would be better if you go to the checkout counter, tell them what you will order and pay in advance. Then hold the bill, bring it to the serving counter and hand it to the waiter. They’ll bring you a cup of coffee as your request.

5. Do not order Cappuccino after lunch

Please do so if you want to get acquainted with the culture of Italian coffee. Because if you order a cup of cappuccino after lunch at a local bar, native people will look at you with very strange eyes.

The origin of the habit above, someone explains that Cappuccino causes digestive disorders in the afternoon. Moreover, frothing milk and ice cream is considered a substitute for a meal then. So if you want to drink Cappuccino, it would be better if you take them in the morning.

6. Get sugar and cremina yourself

In addition to the cold drinks in summer like Coffee Shakerato (coffee is mixed with sugar and shaken ice), coffee in Italy usually does not contain sugar. So you are always fully active in adding sweetness to your coffee cup. Typically, you will easily find the small bag of sugar has already been placed on the serving counter. Also, in some places, there will be the tube of Cremina – a sweet cream to choose as you like.
