BUON MA THUOT COFFEE FESTIVAL
Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival occurs every 2 years, and was honorably recognized as a national festival by the Prime Minister.
Dak Lak province is the most coffee exporting province of Vietnam, with an area of 182.343ha and annual harvest of over 400,000 tons, accounting for 40% of national output. Coffee export turnover of this province accounts for over 80% of annual export turnover of the province, to 80 countries and territories around the world. The coffee industry always plays an important role in economic development - society of Dak Lak.
From 2005 onwards, in order to maximize internal resources and enhance the economic efficiency of the coffee industry in general, in particular Dak Lak coffee, while strengthening the promotion and introduction of the brand bearing the appellation of origin of "Buon Ma Thuot coffee", Dak Lak province has organized "Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival" 1st in 2005 and 2nd in 2008. Coffee Culture Week in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2007 have received the support of the Government, the ministries and was voted as one of 10 major events of the Vietnam Trade Ministry in 2005 and Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry in 2008.
Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival has facilitated for local and international coffee brands to take promotion, product introduction, commercial promotion, and gradually improves knowledge of production and processing of coffee. Besides, it also intends to increase the value of coffee exports and entrench Vietnam's position in the international coffee market.
Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival has attracted more visitors and gathered a lot of domestic and foreign enterprises to participate: First Festival attracted over 300,000 visitors, gathered 106 domestic and foreign enterprises with 400 booths; 2nd Festival with larger scale attracted over 350,000 visitors, bringing together 145 businesses with more than 450 booths.
In 2011, Dak Lak held 3rd Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, tends to continue to promote Vietnam's coffee industry to new height, to create level playing field for the world coffee industry.
Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival has been supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Foreign Affairs; Culture, Sports and Tourism; Agriculture and Rural Development. It was approved to hold periodically every 2 years by the standing government. Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2011 inherits the successes achieved by the Coffee Festival in 2005 and 2008, Coffee Week of Culture in 2007 and further desires to become an important event of Vietnam coffee industry on an international level, gradually asserts place and position of Vietnam's coffee brand on the world market.
The 4th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival with the title: “Buon Ma Thuot – Connection, Development and Strength” attracted more than 200 domestic and foreign enterprises with 600 booths. The 5th Festival with the title: “Buon Ma Thuot – The Historic Spring Streets” was the largest Festival, which was held with the Anniversary of 40-year liberation of Buon Ma Thuot.
The 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will be held in 9th – 13th, September, 2017: raising the scale of Festival and focusing on investment attraction.
